OAHE FAMILY YMCA

YOUTH PROGRAMS

The Oahe Family YMCA offers many youth programs that serve families and enable children to grow in a positive, nuturing, safe environment. Our child care programs (KidStop, School's Out Fun Club, "Y" Time and Summer Camp) are licensed with the State of South Dakota. State financial assistance is available for those who qualify.

As a whole the YMCA is the #1 provider of child care in the nation serving more than 500,000 kids and their families each day. The YMCA also serves over 10,000,000 kids under the age of 17 in many other programs nationwide.

All programs offer a wide variety of activities that include games, arts & crafts, swimming, group activities, field trips, sport activities, health & wellness education and much more! The YMCA is a place where kids can learn new things, make friends, be physically and mentally active and have fun!

YMCA CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT

The YMCA also helps with a child's character and value development. The YMCA Character Development program emphasizes the core values of honesty, respect, responsibility and caring. These basic core values are part of all activities and experiences each child participates in. We hope the families of "our" kids will help us in supporting these characteristics by reminding each child to be courteous and respectful at all times.

The YMCA also supports the Abundant Asset Alliance developed by the Search Institute and the YMCA of the USA. All child care programs use evaluation tools specificly designed to gauge how well our programs serve the children in our care. These evaluations are also used to see where we can better provide the needed assets children need to live positive, happy lives. For more information go to abundantassets.org.
